Educator Rod Ofte introduces the Wallace Center Pasture Project’s Grassfed Beef Calculator , a tool to determine an accurate cost of production on a per head and per herd basis across multiple seasons and within various animal classes: cow-calf, finishing, breeding, stocking, growing your own supplemental forage, direct marketed meat, or a combination of some or all of these programs.

This workshop is part of the second season of “Bringing Meat to Market,” a series of business trainings focused on the fundamentals of the supply chain, sales, and marketing of grassfed meats for western producers.

In our continuing education around good record-keeping and setting your own individual program benchmarks through careful (uncomplicated) financial analysis, SWGLA is proud to partner with educator Rod Ofte to bring the Wallace Center Pasture Project’s Grassfed Beef Calculator to our Bringing Meat to Market series. This instructional will focus on teaching the calculator as a tool to determine an accurate cost of production across multiple seasons and within various animal classes. Whether you’re running cow-calf, finishing, breeding, stocking, growing your own supplemental forage, selling meat directly, or a combination of some or all of these programs, this spreadsheet will assist you in looking at all elements that go into costing your animal on a per head and per herd basis. This tool will be taught as a stand-alone instrument that can also overlap well with our Yield & Margin Calculator, used for looking at holistic carcass yield and performance over time in conjunction with pricing/margin analysis for your meat business. This webinar will be accompanied by an opportunity for a small group peer learning session “Ask Me Anything” or AMA with the educator, to be offered across three seasons in order to have a chance to ask specific questions once you’ve put the tool to use in your operation.
